The
many functions of the Building Division include:
issuing permits for all phases of construction,
performing minor plan check at the counter as
well as completing complex plan check in 2 to
3 weeks and accomplishing field inspections in
all types of construction with a staff that is
well trained and experienced. Another facet is
that we manage the counter with experienced staff
to assist residents with California building code
requirements, assist homeowners with plans or
estimates for their project, and aiding the professional
in submitting large projects for plan check.
This
Division also receives and investigates complaints
of illegal construction.
Please
check with our staff to inquire about what types
of projects require a permit. (Window change-outs,
block walls, water heater change-outs, re-roofing,
new stucco, these items are just an example of
some of the changes that require a permit.)
The
entire staff of the Building Division has but
one mission, that is to promote the safety, and
general welfare of the public through adherence
to adopted building codes and standards of construction
in the City of El Monte.
