The
City of El Monte Park Maintenance Division is
devoted to maintain and improve the city's parks
and facilities. The Division is dedicated to
keeping the city's parks safe, well cared for
and fully functional for residents and visitors
alike.
The
Park Maintenance Division operates seven days
a week with a staff currently comprised of 18
full time employee and three part time employees.

The
City of El Monte has nine community parks, which
total over forty three acres of parkland. The
Park Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance
and improvement of each park. Typical daily duties
include picking up litter from the park, sanitizing
the public restrooms, graffiti removal, safety
inspecting and maintaining park playground equipment,
edging, weed abatement, blowing down, mowing,
hedging, pruning, painting, pest control, herbicide
use, aerating, fertilizing, and over seeding. |

| LANDSCAPING
MUNICIPAL FACILITIES |
There
are four major municipal facilities that Park
Maintenance is responsible for maintaining landscapes
of: the El Monte Community Center, the Jack Crippen
Senior Center, the El Monte Historical Museum,
the El Monte Civic Center consisting of City Hall
East and West, as well as the Police Department.
These landscaping and maintenance duties include
mowing, edging, weeding of turf, pruning rose;
pruning and trimming the ornamental trees, planting
annual flowers, cleaning and sweeping of walkways. |

| BUILDING
MAINTENANCE |
The
Park Maintenance Division maintains the buildings
of the El Monte Community Center, Jack Crippen
Senior Center, El Monte Historical Museum, as
well as park facilities such as Lambert Park's
auditorium and gym, Zamora Park's auditorium,
Mt. View Park's auditorium, Pioneer Park's log
cabin, and Historic Park's Osmond House. Ongoing
maintenance duties include: stripping and waxing
of floors, sanitize facility restrooms, cleaning
and maintaining tables and chairs, and setting
up and breaking down for activities, events and
group meetings. |

| CITYWIDE
SPECIAL EVENTS |
The
City of El Monte has many special events throughout
the year, and the Park Maintenance Division is
there to handle all the deliveries, set?ups and
assist with the running of the event. The includes
setting up tables and chairs, maintaining the
grounds, light construction, decorations, electrical,
as well as operating the sound system. Some of
the special events the Park Maintenance Division
supports are: Holiday House, Children's Day Parade,
various carnivals, Veteran's Day Ceremonies, Earth
Day, Little League Openings, blood drives, rabies
clinics, Election Days, Police Open House, as
well as city groundbreakings and dedications. |

| MEDIANS |
All
the street medians in the city are under contract.
The Park Maintenance Division monitors them. The
landscape contractor mows, trims, over seeds,
weed abatement, and fertilizes all landscaped
medians. |

| PLUMBER |
The
City of El Monte's plumber is part of the Park
Maintenance Division. The plumber is responsible
for all the plumbing needs of the city as well
as the irrigation for all the city's parks and
landscaped facilities. |
