CONGREGATE MEALS:

Congregate Meals are served Monday through Friday at 11:30 am (doors open at 9:00 am). Suggested donation is $2.00. The meals are served in the Center’s Multipurpose (Nutrition) Room. A well-balanced hot meal is provided to individuals over 60 years of age and the spouse of the participant over age 60. Meals are prepared with no salt added, cheese lover in saturated fat and cholesterol. Additional considerations include using non-fat milk in puddings and creamed dishes and soups, canola oil, when oil is called for and egg substitute in egg dishes and canned fruit in light syrup. Advance reservations are required by calling (626) 580-2211. Transportation services are also available, upon request.

 

 
 

DIABETIC & WEIGHT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT GROUP:

Individuals who are sugar intolerant, overweight, or who have loved ones affected with hypoglycemia, diabetes, or weight issues are encouraged to participate in this support group. A registered dietitian will work closely with your doctor in creating a diet that is tasty and healthy. All services are free. Weekly classes are held Wednesday mornings to help monitor body mass indexing and weight. Assistance is also available to individually provide any participant with information regarding special diets. This service is also available to care management participants 60 years of age or older.

 

 

NUTRITION CONSULTATION:

Individual nutritional advice and consultation regarding special diets (ENHANCE Program) can be arranged with a registered dietitian. Call (626) 580-2211 for an appointment.

 

 

"BE WELL" EXERCISE CLASS:

The “BE WELL” Exercise and Weight Management program is especially designed for seniors over 60 years of age with chronic conditions.  The program is offered every Wednesday at 8:30 am with group nutrition education and exercise.  There are outcomes measures offered to all participants including blood pressure, body composition analysis, BMI (weight), exercise fitness, and individual goal setting with pedometers provided for all participants.  Personal consultation with the registered dietitian is available, if desired. Classes include “Healthy Foods, Healthy You” recipe testing.  All classes are taught by registered dietitians and exercise specialists.
